Island Connections provides free services to the elderly and people with disabilities on Mt. Desert Island and the surrounding offshore islands in Hancock County. These services, including transportation, home repairs, yard work, snow shoveling, housework, meal delivery, and supportive telephone calls enable them to live independently and with a strong quality of life.

During the past year, volunteers have provided 3,700 rides for 190 men and women, 759 meal deliveries in collaboration with Meals for ME, and many social activities, including picnics, bus trips, movie matinees, Thanksgiving Dinner, bingo games, trips to the Bangor Garden show and community theatre plays.

Island Connections supports social interaction with the elderly and handicapped, providing everyone with a happier, healthier environment, both for those being served, and for the volunteers who provide the services.
